Golden Inspires Foundation Partners for Free Breast Cancer Screening and Rural Women Empowerment Initiatives in Tamale

In a continuous effort to promote women’s health and empowerment, Golden Inspires Foundation, in partnership with SWIDA Ghana, Tiyumba Hope Foundation, and BALMAISHA Foundation, hosted a free breast cancer screening exercise on October 15, 2024. This was held at GNAT Hall, Tamale. The event marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month and aimed to provide essential health services to women in both urban and rural communities.

The screening exercise drew over 100 women from Tamale and surrounding areas, providing them with free clinical breast examinations and expert guidance on self-examination techniques from medical professionals. Attendees were educated on early detection, myths surrounding breast cancer, and the importance of prioritizing breast health. “Early detection is crucial in saving lives,” a medical staff emphasized. A breast cancer survivor present at the event shared her story, underscoring the life-saving value of awareness, particularly in rural areas.

The participants expressed their appreciation for the initiative, with one woman stating, “I have learned so much from this screening and will encourage others to prioritize their breast health.” Organizers, including Golden Inspires Foundation, vowed to continue raising awareness and ensuring regular screenings are available to vulnerable populations.This screening exercise was organized as part to celebrate International Rural Women’s Day, with funding support from the African Women Development Fund. The event, themed: Good Food for All: The Role of Policies, gathered over 100 women from Northern Ghana, celebrating women dedication and resilience in farming. The event highlighted the vital role rural women play in food security and the need for policy reforms to support their work.

The celebration featured an insightful panel discussion, where successful female farmers shared their personal experiences, challenges, and insights into agricultural entrepreneurship. SWIDA Ghana and other partners emphasized the crucial role women play in the agricultural sector and the importance of empowering them to drive economic growth and food security.Participants left the event feeling inspired, equipped with practical knowledge on entrepreneurship in agriculture, and encouraged to take ownership of their ventures. The event concluded with a strong call to action, urging women to access available resources and take charge of their agricultural endeavors for the betterment of their communities.
