Golden Inspires Foundation (GIF-GHANA) embarked on a school outreach program at Church of Christ Junior High School (JHS) in Yendi. The initiative aimed to educate students, particularly young girls, on menstrual health and hygiene, focusing on empowering them to handle their first menstrual periods with confidence and dignity. During the visit, GIF-GHANA team engaged the students in an interactive session, explaining the biological process of menstruation, the importance of menstrual hygiene, and the necessary precautions to ensure good health during this period.

The discussion also centered on breaking the stigma associated with menstruation, encouraging open communication, and creating a supportive environment for young girls to thrive. To further promote sustainable menstrual hygiene practices, the foundation distributed reusable sanitary pads to the girls. These eco-friendly pads not only address the issue of affordability but also contribute to reducing environmental waste. The gesture was warmly welcomed, with students and teachers expressing their profound gratitude.

One of the students shared, “This education has given me the confidence to embrace my period without fear. I now understand how to manage it and stay healthy.” Teachers at the school also commended GIF-GHANA for addressing such a critical issue, which often goes overlooked in many communities. The STEM and Gender Officer of Golden Inspires Foundation emphasized the organization’s commitment to empowering young girls and addressing issues that hinder their educational and personal growth. “Our goal is to ensure that no girl misses school or feels embarrassed because of menstruation. Through education and resource provision, we are building confidence and breaking barriers,” she stated. This initiative is part of the foundation’s broader mission to create supportive platforms that empower youth, women, and marginalized communities.

The program aligns with GIF-GHANA’s dedication to advancing gender equality, education, and community development across Northern Ghana and beyond. The visit to Church of Christ JHS is a testament to the impactful work GIF-GHANA continues to do in addressing the Sustainable Development Goals.
