On Tuesday, 26th November 2024, Golden Inspires Foundation (GIF-Ghana), in collaboration with FACE Ghana and Ghana Youth Guide, successfully organized a Community Durbar on Education and Peace at Dimala Junior High School in the Northern Region of Ghana. The event brought together students from Dimala and Narung communities, parents, teachers, traditional leaders, civil society organizations (CSOs), and other key stakeholders to discuss the critical role of education and peacebuilding in community development.

The durbar underscored the significance of formal education and vocational skills training as powerful tools for personal growth and societal transformation. Key speakers encouraged students to remain committed to their education while also considering skill acquisition as an alternative means of economic empowerment. They emphasized that education reduces poverty, decreases unemployment, strengthens agricultural productivity, and fosters social cohesion, all of which contribute to a peaceful and prosperous society.
Parents were urged to prioritize their children’s education, ensuring that school dropouts are given a second chance through re-enrollment or vocational training opportunities. Stakeholders highlighted how an educated and skilled youth population can help reduce youth unemployment and prevent conflicts, leading to lasting peace and sustainable community development. A major highlight of the event was a theatrical performance by a local drama group, which depicted the dangers of electoral violence and the need for peaceful elections. The engaging stage drama captivated the audience, illustrating how community members, particularly the youth, play a vital role in maintaining peace before, during, and after elections.

The performance reinforced the message that peacebuilding is a shared responsibility, and every citizen must contribute to ensuring a violence-free electoral process.Speaking at the event, a representative from Golden Inspires Foundation reiterated the organization’s unwavering commitment to empowering youth, promoting education, and fostering peace through community engagement initiatives. She noted that sustainable development can only be achieved when communities prioritize education, skills development, and peaceful coexistence.

The durbar served as a call to action for all stakeholders, students, parents, educators, and community leaders to work together in advancing education and peacebuilding efforts. It also reaffirmed the collective dedication of Golden Inspires Foundation and its partners to creating a society where education serves as the foundation for development, and peace remains a pillar of progress.Through collaborative efforts and sustained advocacy, GIF-Ghana, FACE Ghana, and Ghana Youth Guide remain committed to equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for building a more educated, peaceful, and prosperous Ghana.
