The schools that benefited from this impactful initiative include Datoyili T.I Ahmadiya JHS, St. Kezeto JHS, Balogun JHS, Islamic No. 2 JHS in Tamale, as well as Yendi Presby JHS, Yendi Girls Model, and Vision Star Academy in Yendi.
In addition to the physical act of planting trees, GIF-GHANA conducted sensitization programs at each school, educating students and staff on the critical impact of climate change and the need to protecting and planting more trees to safeguard humanity, our planet, and a greener tomorrow.
The students and teaching staff expressed their gratitude and enthusiasm for the initiative, pledging to practice climate resilience and join the movement to promote a greener planet. Their commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability was palpable, underscoring the significance of engaging and empowering the youth in the fight against climate change.

“Planting these trees is more than just a symbolic gesture; it’s a tangible investment in the future of our communities and our planet,” said Ayisha Mohammed, President of GIF-GHANA. “By involving young people and women in this initiative, we are not only addressing the urgent need for reforestation but also nurturing a generation of environmental champions who will carry the torch of sustainability forward.”
The impact of initiative extends far beyond the immediate benefit of increased greenery. It serves as a catalyst for environmental education, community engagement, and the empowerment of marginalized groups. By actively involving youth and women in the fight against climate change, GIF-GHANA is fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility towards the planet, ensuring that the seeds of sustainability are sown deep within the fabric of society.
