Golden Inspires Foundation (GIF-GHANA), a youth and women-driven nonprofit organization, dedicated to creating positive change across Northern Ghana, on Tuesday , 11th June, 2024 conducted an impactful visit to basic schools in Adibo, a rural community in the Yendi municipality. The visit was part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to empower marginalized groups, particularly women and young people, through education, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives.
During the visit, GIF-GHANA representatives observed numerous challenges faced by the students. Many were seen sitting and learning outside the classroom environment, and a significant number of students wore torn and dirty uniforms, while some had no uniforms at all. The teachers explained that this situation results from parents in the community often lacking awareness of the importance of education and not prioritizing their children’s schooling.

Our team educated the students on the importance of prioritizing education, whether formal or vocational. Emphasizing the role education plays in personal and community development, GIF-GHANA representatives encouraged students to stay committed to their studies.
Additionally, the foundation focused on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) education. We sensitized the students, particularly emphasizing the importance of personal health and hygiene. As part of this initiative, GIF-GHANA donated and distributed menstrual products to female students, providing demonstrations on their proper use. This gesture aimed to promote health and hygiene among female students, ensuring they remain in school during their menstrual periods. Male students were also encouraged to support their female peers, helping to eliminate menstrual stereotypes and myths.
Recognizing the dire need for support, the schools have appealed to GIF-GHANA, philanthropists, NGOs, and other stakeholders to provide uniforms and raise awareness about the importance of valuing education. These uniforms are crucial to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to attend school and learn in a dignified manner.
GIF-GHANA is committed to supporting these students and their families. The organization calls on all stakeholders to join in this mission to provide uniforms, raise awareness, and ensure that every child in Northern Ghana has the opportunity to learn and thrive.
“These children are the leaders of tomorrow,” said Madam Taqkiyatu Akilu, STEM Officer. “Ensuring they have access to quality education is crucial for their future and the development of their community.”

Golden Inspires Foundation remains dedicated to creating a brighter future for the youth of Northern Ghana. By collaborating with the community, local authorities, and other organizations, GIF-GHANA aims to address these challenges and make a lasting impact. Together, we can ensure that every child in Adibo and beyond has the opportunity to receive an education and build a better future for themselves and their community.
